About Equilibrium Physiotherapy

Equilibrium Physiotherapy provides expert assessment and rehabilitation services for clients across West Lancashire, Chorley and surrounding areas.

We specialise in adult musculo-skeletal conditions including persistent pain, and in vestibular rehabilitation for people with dizziness and balance problems. We can provide a range of treatments including exercise prescription, manual therapy - including joint mobilisation, massage, myofascial release and trigger point therapy, acupuncture, electrotherapy, and advice. We aim to help you achieve your fitness and functional goals, listening carefully to you in order to provide the best approach to getting you where you want to be.

Equilibrium Physiotherapy is run by Vicki Downey, a Chartered Physiotherapist with over 25 years experience.

Vicki has worked across many different public and private health care settings, and brings an exceptional degree of skill, experience and patient care to her practice.

Her experience includes working in busy outpatient musculoskeletal clinics, consultant led sports injury clinic, leadership in rheumatology, vestibular and weight management physiotherapy services, leading patient information and exercise groups, designing and evaluating exercise capacity assessment programmes and development of persistent pain management programmes, training other therapists, ward and ICU experience, and recent work on post-surgical orthopaedic wards.

Vicki keeps regularly updated on healthcare developments and her own professional development, including completing Society of Orthopaedic Medicine training, Acupuncture Foundation course and yearly updates, courses on electrotherapy, nerve dysfunction, spinal, shoulder, lower limb, exercise, manual therapy, clinical reasoning, shoulder arthroplasty (replacement) rehabilitation, solution focus/motivational interviewing, and Functional Capacity Training (British Heart Foundation).

Vicki is registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) which regulates the practice of physiotherapists in the UK (registration no: PH50037). She has been a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) since qualifying in 1995 (no: 56076), and is a member of the Special Interest Group ACPIVR: Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Vestibular Rehabilitation.

Equilibrium Physiotherapy provides clinics at the Lathom House Consulting Rooms in Burscough, West Lancashire.

Our bright and spacious ground floor treatment room is fully fitted and fully accessible. There is a comfortable waiting area, with fully accessible toilets also available.

Car parking is available at the clinic, although this can occasionally be limited if the practice is busy. There are plenty of alternative local parking options within a couple of minutes' walk.
